Prepare for the interview — study information about the company and the vacancy to the maximum. In addition to the company website and job description, it will be beneficial to watch videos/listen to podcasts with employees or the company’s CEO. In this way, you will learn a lot of new things, you will be able to understand a little about the company’s culture, and you will be able to get to know the primary value – people – in absentia. Thus, it will be a little easier for you to communicate during the interview; you will be able to rely on facts from what you have seen/heard, showing your deep interest in the company. And even if you lack experience, you will make one of the most knowledgeable candidates. When asking questions, refer to the words of management or stories you have heard.
Study the position, tasks, and product because there may be questions about your possible improvements, changes, ideas, and initiatives in the existing product/processes. If they are not supplied, do not hesitate to ask yourself whether they plan to change and move in this direction.
Many questions. You can ask deep questions: about the company’s values, processes, approaches to selecting people, the company goals, etc. About the team, tasks, what tools are used for work, and the presence of a mentor. Also, about challenges for the coming months/year, what the company expects from the candidate for this role, what you will be able to learn in this role, what is the possible growth, is there a PDP (personal development plan), about further stages, availability of a test task, etc. This speaks of you as a candidate who is maximally interested in work and personal development.
If you are still studying or taking the final exams, discuss your possible work schedule and all the nuances of combining work and study, even if it is temporary. Feel free to tell stories about your studies and internships that can be equated to professional experience. Show that you can solve problems and conflict situations.
Feel free to talk about your achievements, successes, mistakes, failures, and lack of experience. Maybe experience is your weak point now, but your strengths will show.
