Principal Real-time Software Engineer

Job Summary Principal Embedded Real‑Time Software Developer/Integrator – Effectors Center of the Software organization, onsite at RTX’s campus in Tucson, AZ. Responsibilities Architect, design, implement, test, debug, and deploy integrated embedded real‑time software within heterogeneous firmware and hardware systems. Work within a cross‑discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT) to refine product concepts, ensure testability, and guarantee measurable quality. Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff. Contribute to proposals, preliminary and critical design reviews. Obtain program access and maintain security clearance requirements. Qualifications Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and a STEM degree or equivalent. Experience in at least two of the following: Embedded C++ Software, Embedded Software Security, Software Architecture Design and Implementation. Proficiency with embedded Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc. Experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software into complex systems. Active, transferrable U.S. Secret security clearance required prior to start. Preferred: familiarity with rate‑monotonic theory, layered architectural principles, electrical schematics, firmware source (VHDL/Verilog), assembly language, lab instrumentation, device drivers, and leadership of engineering teams.
