Benefits Eligible Full‑Time Benefit Eligible Work Shift Day - 10 Hour Shift (United States of America) Department 7183 RHC-Exeter Health Clinic – under a collaborative agreement with a physician, this clinic provides prenatal and postnatal medical care, treatment, and education to obstetrical and gynecological patients in accordance with established midwifery practice guidelines. Qualifications License/Certifications – CA Registered Nurse; CA Nurse Midwife; CA Nurse Midwife Furnishing Number or Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number; Certified Nurse‑Midwife from the American Midwifery Certification Board; DEA registration; BLS. Education – Preferred: Master’s degree. Experience – Required: One year of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Must complete credentialing through the Medical Staff Interdisciplinary Practice Committee. Job Responsibilities Provide direct prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum patient services and primary care to low‑risk and at‑risk obstetrical and gynecological patients using accepted standards of practice, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment consultation, co‑management of at‑risk patients, and referral to MD/DO or specialized consultants such as Maternal Fetal Medicine. Assist with follow‑up care of referrals and provide appropriate information to referral sources; provide discharge instructions. Offer outpatient/inpatient care for obstetrical patients in accordance with hospital protocols for Certified Nurse Midwife care. Obtain patient health histories and conduct physical examinations. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to patients, families, staff, and learners. Participate in call rotation for the OB/GYN department per contract and with MD/DO backup. Monitor quality of patient records, ensuring inclusion of all appropriate findings, recommendations, follow‑up care, and referrals. Provide educational services for well‑women care and manage well‑women care for essentially healthy women throughout their life cycle. Provide staff and student education. Document necessary components to meet documentation standards for assigned DRG and perinatal core measures. Participate in quality improvement and assurance activities. Assist in reviewing and developing standing orders, policies, and procedures; provide consultative direction as needed. Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement goals, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Engage in a team approach to patient care and maintain effective communication with other KD staff to ensure continuity of care; assume additional responsibilities and perform duties consistent with state licensure. Initiate emergency interventions to stabilize patients in conjunction with the rapid response team. Utilize current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice settings, incorporating research findings into standards of care. Support IRB‑approved clinical research and trials through various activities. Participate in and support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of Kaweah Health. Demonstrate knowledge and skills required to provide culturally, linguistically, spiritually, gender‑ and age‑appropriate care, and communicate effectively with patients and families per the Plan for Provision of Care.
