Forklift Operator And Material Handler

This role involves safely and efficiently handling products throughout the warehouse, with a strong focus on frozen meat materials. You will perform critical tasks such as loading, unloading, weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, and labeling pallets, as well as palletizing frozen meat from chest freezers and preparing it for shipment. You will also operate a sit-down forklift to move products and support overall warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload products from trucks, storage areas, and production lines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Handle frozen meat products by palletizing totes of chicken parts from chest freezers and placing them on pallets for shipment.
• Weigh, bag, pack, unpack, and label pallets to ensure accurate product identification and traceability.
• Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stack, and organize products and pallets within the warehouse.
• Perform general warehouse labor tasks, including material handling and organizing work areas.
• Ensure products are handled properly to maintain quality and prevent damage during all stages of handling.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working in a colder environment.
• Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly work area to support efficient warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in warehouse operations, general labor, or material handling.
• Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfort working in a colder environment with strong product odors.
• Attention to detail when weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, and labeling pallets.
• Willingness and availability to work on a second shift schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working with frozen products or in cold storage environments.
• Experience handling meat products or similar materials.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment that handles frozen meat products, specifically totes of chicken parts. The facility maintains a colder temperature, typically around 50 degrees in winter and 80 degrees in summer, and there is a strong smell associated with the frozen meat. You will operate a sit-down forklift and perform manual material handling tasks throughout the shift. The role is on the second shift, and you should be prepared for physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and spending extended periods in a cold environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mifflintown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.79 - $18.79/hr.
