CEI Inspector - Transportation Market

Qualifications A high school diploma (GED) and 3 years of construction experience, or completion of a 4‑year engineering technology or engineering program and 2 years of construction experience Preferably experience on GDOT or municipal roadway projects requiring daily records and reports on asphalt paving, concrete work, grading, structural work, and erosion control Certifications such as GDOT WECS, GDOT Field Concrete Technician, and GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control); may be required to participate in certification and training courses post‑hire including OSHA, GDOT, or client‑specific required training Ability to read and understand plans and specifications Ability to recognize, document, and elevate field issues Competence in computer use for data entry and reporting Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently Effective listening and communication skills, both verbal and written, including good English language knowledge, grammar, composition, and spelling Physical ability to frequently sit, use hands to operate tools or equipment, talk, see, hear, reach with hands and arms, walk, stand, and stoop; frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally more—reasonable accommodations may be made to support individuals with disabilities Responsibilities Observe and inspect construction work and prepare daily inspection reports and constructability reviews Provide oversight for junior inspectors Oversee daily construction activities including earthwork, erosion control, reinforced concrete, and equipment installation Ensure construction progress aligns with specifications and contract documents by reviewing plans and analyzing moderate complexity shop drawings Maintain daily job logs and report deviations from plans to management promptly Participate in reviewing submittals, assisting with Requests for Information (RFIs), and other related tasks Coordinate with contractors, client personnel, and other stakeholders regarding inspection activities Advise contractors on non‑compliance or contract violations and collaborate on corrective actions Verify that highway work zones and traffic control setups meet contract requirements Assist in contractor evaluations and perform other duties as assigned Use or learn necessary inspection tools and computer systems for accurate data collection and reporting Professional Growth In‑house Learning Tuition Reimbursement Licensure Support Professional Organization Engagement Benefits Flexible Schedules & Generous PTO Healthcare (Medical, Dental, Vision, Wellness Programs) 401(k) with Company Match Short‑ & Long‑term Disability, Paid Life & AD&D Supplemental, Critical Care, Pet, Legal & ID Theft Insurance Family Planning and Parental Leave Mass/Public Transit Program Telemedicine and Employee Assistance Program Gresham Smith is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate.
