The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm

SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, the Welder I supports the maintenance and repair of commercial aircraft and associated components. Assists welding to repair, modify, fabricate, or overhaul aircraft components, tooling and other items requested. Includes use of plasma arc cutters, scarfing, oxygen acetylene, TIG, MIG and other associated welding equipment. All work must be in accordance with appropriate maintenance manual, overhaul manual, structural manual and/or drawings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Performs welding of aerospace stainless steel and aluminum to OEM and industry specifications using manual and/or automated equipment.

• Prepares parts for welding including cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning.

• Prepares parts for post-weld inspection processes such as NDT, dye penetrant, X-ray, and chemical other treatments.

• Performs MIG welding, including aluminum bead vertical, horizontal and flat.

• Sets up MIG machines for type of material being worked.

• Lays out and fits all parts, maintaining all dimensional parameters.

• Performs TIG butt and fillet welding.

• Set up TIG machines for type and thickness of material being worked.

• Fabricates fixtures and tooling to support aircraft and component operations.

• Completes job and traveler cards, forms and paperwork as required.

• Completes job documentation via CMMS and Oracle based work order systems.

• Ensures communication of all work handoffs for shift changes and technician changes.

• Participates in continuous improvement activities to improve safety and efficiency.

Assists other welders with on call duties for night and weekend work

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of practical aircraft welding experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

• AWS D17.1 certification (aerospace endorsement) preferred.

• FAA Airframe rating preferred.

• NDT experience preferred.

• Heavy vehicle and industrial facility welding preferred

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. May occasionally work from heights of 40 – 60 feet. The employee will also be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Compensation

The full base pay range for this position is $22 – $30 hourly, not including bonuses or benefits. Your pay will be based on your experience, skills, and education, as well as internal equity to ensure fairness across the team. Candidates closer to the lower end of the range are typically building their expertise, while those at the higher end bring significant experience and specialized knowledge. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
