The Clinical Pharmacist I on the Central Operations/Sterile Products Team is responsible for ensuring medications are delivered to patients throughout the hospital and for overseeing sterile and non‑sterile compounding, final verification of IV admixtures, and other pharmaceutical products in compliance with established guidelines and regulations. The pharmacist works closely with other departments to determine the appropriateness of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) orders for adults and neonates and processes these orders for compounding. Essential Responsibilities Practice in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration, Department of Public Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Drug Enforcement Administration, and with established policies and procedures. Maintain certification and credentials in accordance with the Board of Registration. Manage daily operations of assigned areas, coordinate workload and personnel, and resolve operational problems in the specific area. Assist in the development and maintenance of pharmacy policies and procedures. Evaluate medication orders; review disease‑state parameters, allergies, drug‑drug interactions, and duplication of therapy. Communicate with physicians on discrepancies or necessary changes and inform nurses of problems and resolutions. Document all interventions. Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and other health‑care professionals. Continuously evaluate quality and timeliness of dispensing performance and use initiative to assure best possible patient service. Communicate applicable information to subsequent shifts to ensure continuity of care. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (Doctoral degree preferred). License required: Pharmacist. 0‑1 year related work experience. Licensed Registered Pharmacist in Massachusetts (or immediate eligibility). Experience with computer systems, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access). Preferred Qualifications Direct patient‑care experience in a hospital pharmacy, preferably in an academic medical center. ASHP accredited residency. Competencies Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical‑center staff, patients, families and external customers. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies and apply them in complex situations. Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve operations by offering ideas, identifying issues and respecting team members. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet unit standards and expectations; resolve service issues in a timely and respectful manner. Age‑Based Competencies: Competency to provide patient care to neonatal (birth to 6 months), young adult (16‑30 years), middle age (30‑60 years), and elderly (60+) populations. Physical Nature Of The Job Sedentary work. May exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally when carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling objects. Primarily sitting, with walking and standing required only occasionally. Pay Range $59.50 – $80.08 per hour. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime and other applicable practices.
