Final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other factors. Description Under supervision from the Director of Behavioral Health, this clinician provides a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in an integrated primary care setting located in a community health center. The clinician works collaboratively with other mental health and medical providers and trainees engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities. Major Responsibilities Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families as appropriate; prepare treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs; provide therapeutic crisis intervention and urgent services as required. Collect data about patients through interviews, case histories, psychological tests, and observational techniques; evaluate data to identify causes of problems and determine appropriate therapeutic approaches or referrals. Consult with mental health and medical staff regarding therapeutic and casework; refer clients to appropriate service agencies as required. Arrange or provide therapeutic interventions for clients in a crisis condition or with serious mental health/substance abuse problems. Refer clients to social service agencies for financial assistance and other required services; may visit patients and families at home to provide counseling and outreach services. Follow up to determine the reliability of treatment; modify methods and degree of therapy when indicated. Maintain case files, referrals, and related documents; prepare documentation for civil commitment hearings or legal proceedings; keep patient data current. Consult with other legal and treatment agencies about patient records, rights, and responsibilities. Plan and facilitate community outreach and education activities; serve as liaison to community organizations and schools. Provide clinical supervision to lower‑level therapists and graduate social work students or interns; supply consulting services to other patient‑care professionals. Perform administrative functions such as monitoring budgets and preparing reports; participate in research projects and propose changes to program policies. Provide formal teaching, consultation, and in‑service training to relevant professionals. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as required. Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the health center's mission, values, and standards. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in counseling or social work. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC), Psychologist, or equivalent licensure pending with temporary license preferred. Clinical experience required. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards. Familiarity with psychological testing and evaluation skills. Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records. Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in the area of medical expertise. Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. Knowledge of community mental health resources and willingness to reach out. Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses. Skill in crisis intervention techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients’ rights.
