Gallaudet maintains a proud tradition of research and scholarly activity and prepares its graduates for career opportunities in a highly competitive, technological, and rapidly changing world.Job Title:Cheerleading Assistant Coach (MSSD)Worker Type:Fixed Term (Fixed Term)Pay Type:HourlyExempt Status:NoSupervisory Organization (Department):MSSD Athletics - JMSummary:The Assistant Coach’s primary responsibility is to assist/provide support to the Cheerleading Head Coach with the development and implementation of an exemplary athletic program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student-athlete.Job Description:Principal Accountabilities:Facilitate the improvement and enhancement of athletic skills and team performance for Cheerleading student-athletes.Assume the responsibilities of the Head Coach in their absence, ensuring seamless operation of team activities.Stay updated on new trends, ideas, and techniques in cheerleading coaching.Promote the value of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.Develop training programs and game plans for the team.Ensure all athletic activities adhere to the regulations set forth by DCSAA, NDCC, and NDIAA.Ensure compliance with district policies and regulations.Monitor student-athlete eligibility and adherence to training and behavior standards.Establish and communicate team rules to players and parents, ensuring fair enforcement.Adhere to supervising student-athletes, emergency protocols, the student code of conduct, and safety protocols across all activities, including but not limited to locker room and bus safety, to ensure their safety and well-being.Promptly report any injuries and incidents, including but not limited to discrimination, bullying, harassment, and hazing, to Athletic Coordinators and Athletic Director.Communicate effectively with every member of the school district and community.Cultivate positive public relations for the Cheerleading program through program development, presentations, and media communication.Work effectively with the team in fundraising efforts to earn funds for travel, food, sports attire, and equipment.React productively to change and handle other assigned tasks.Support the value of education.Support the philosophy and vision of the MSSD Athletics Department.Attend mandatory MSSD Coaches Orientation and Sports Awards Banquet.Adhere to district health and safety policies at all times.Establish and maintain a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisor.Shows a genuine commitment to community engagement and belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.Perform related and other duties as needed.Qualifications:Knowledge & Experience in CheerleadingCheerleading Coaching ExperienceKnowledge and Understanding of High School Aged StudentsAbility to communicate in American Sign Language.Application Information:Up-to-date ResumeEmployment Information:Season Dates: August 3, 2026 - November 20, 2026Coach Orientation: TBDSports Camp Date: TBDAll employees hired must undergo and pay for a background investigation if selected for the job and must be cleared before starting the first day on the job.
