Production Chemist

We are open to candidates at varying stages of their careers, from early career chemists looking to develop their technical expertise to experienced professionals ready to take on greater responsibility and technical leadership. The Production Support Chemist plays an important role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our chemical products including gypsum, waxes, and liquids used in the dental industry. This role combines hands-on laboratory testing with production support, troubleshooting, formulation management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The scope of responsibilities and level of independence will be determined by individual qualifications and experience. What you'll be doing: Quality Control Testing & Analysis * Perform routine and non-routine quantitative and qualitative testing of finished products and raw materials in accordance with established procedures and ISO 13485 quality standards. * Conduct Laboratory testing, including viscosity, pH, specific gravity, compressive strength, setting expansion, Vicat, and other applicable methods. * Accurately document and interpret test results, identify out of specification conditions, and communicate product status to production and management * Support timely product testing and release activities to meet production schedules. Formulation & Production Support * Monitor raw material properties and product formulations to ensure consistency, quality and performance. * Assist with or independently manage batch formula adjustments and master formula changes, depending on experience and qualifications. * Provide technical support to Production regarding product performance, processing, and manufacturing challenges. * Identify opportunities to improve product quality, reduce waste, and increase manufacturing efficiency. Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement * Investigate product and process issues, analyze test data, and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions. * Support non conformance investigations and resolution of customer quality concerns. * Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and R&D to resolve technical challenges. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives involving testing methods, product formulations, and manufacturing processes. Laboratory Operations & Quality Systems * Maintain accurate, traceable laboratory records in accordance with ISO 13485 and applicable FDA requirements. * Support laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, safety, and housekeeping practices. * Assist in developing, reviewing, and improving laboratory testing procedures and quality documentation. * Support internal and external quality audits as needed. Technical Collaboration & Development * Collaborate with R&D on product development, testing, and improvement projects. * Work with suppliers and internal teams to evaluate raw material quality and performance. * Depending on experience, provide technical guidance, assist with laboratory priorities, and train or mentor other team members. What you'll bring to the table: * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field with laboratory coursework. * At least 1 year of experience performing quantitative and qualitative laboratory testing. * Candidates with 5 or more years of relevant laboratory experience will be considered for expanded technical responsibilities and leadership opportunities. * Experience in manufacturing environment preferred, particularly in medical devices or another regulated industry. * Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem solving skills.
