Press Operator II Rockaway, NJ Responsibilities Assist with daily production on double wide presses under the direction of press management and supervisors. Perform printing‑related tasks including primary ink setting or folder operator duties, oversight of plate processing, spotting plates, reel set‑up and operation, newsprint staging, roll preparation, CMYK ink setting, advanced press operational controls, and equipment maintenance. Execute specified reporting and maintain accurate operational logs. Support efficient press operations to achieve and maintain on‑time production, product quality standards, low waste, and operational safety. Maintain optimum quality of printed products. Observe all scheduled start and stop times. Conserve material resources, especially newsprint. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Qualifications Proficiency in Mitsubishi, Wifag, or similar newspaper press operations and functions. Knowledge of printing techniques, basic ink/water balance, and press quality standards. Ability to read and layout press diagrams accurately to meet color demand while maximizing labor and waste efficiencies; understanding of press run layouts, lead installation, and angle bar switching. Proficiency in all reel room operations and procedures. Understanding of all reel functions, including tensioning systems, roll delivery systems, and roll/butt diameter specifications. Adaptability to change, ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, remain flexible, and interact with people while demonstrating patience. Capability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet all deadlines. Forklift and clamp truck certification a plus. Solid organizational and computer skills, including general business and Microsoft software programs. Physical requirements: lift/carry up to 75 pounds; push/pull up to 2,000 pounds; most work hours spent standing; climb stairs on a six‑level press structure; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl in confined areas; color vision required. Additional Information Full‑time shift work, which may include scheduled nights, weekends, and holidays.
