This role is a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Responsibilities Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and the nursing profession. Adapts behavior and communication to respect the privacy and cultural mandates of specific patient populations. Performs other related duties as required. Maintains knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility. Education Mandatory: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Experience Mandatory: None. Certifications Mandatory: Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Mandatory: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Mandatory: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within 30 days of hire. Mandatory: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire. Mandatory: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire. Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Good organizational and time management skills with self‑directed work. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and interpersonal skills. Physical & Environmental Demands Heavy work requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly. Duties performed routinely expose the incumbent to blood, body fluids, and tissues. The role carries an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
