About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Step-Down Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Central Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week available. 3:1 patient ratio. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off available per 13-week contract.

Highlights:

• Progressive care unit specializing in surgical and trauma patients
• 12-bed unit with daily census of approximately 10 patients
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
• 24 hours of orientation provided to support successful onboarding
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred

Requirements:

• Active or pending Virginia RN license (must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Experience with 3:1 patient ratios
• Epic EMR experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions
• Strong clinical skills including telemetry monitoring, central line management, chest tube care, blood product administration, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with surgical patients, orthopedic trauma, wound care, and various procedural skills
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed per facility policy
• BSN preferred
