Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

The Executive Director of Teaching and Learning serves as the instructional leader and district-level principal. This position is responsible for providing visionary leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, school improvement, student achievement, and the day-to-day administration of the schools. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Superintendent, Curriculum Specialist staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to ensure a rigorous, equitable, and student-centered educational experience. This position serves as the Instructional Leader of the Junior and Senior High School and supporting the K-6 school environment while also providing district leadership in teaching and learning initiatives. Due to the scope of responsibilities, a valid Superintendent License issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is required.

Employment Status: Full Time

Qualifications Required:

  • Valid Ohio Superintendent License.
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful building-level administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Ohio education laws, regulations, and accountability systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Leadership: Serve as the chief instructional leader for the district. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs. Monitor student achievement data and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes. Ensure alignment of curriculum and instructional practices with Ohio Learning Standards. Facilitate professional learning opportunities focused on instructional excellence. Promote innovative instructional practices that support college, career, and military readiness.
  • Building Leadership: Supervise and evaluate certified and classified staff each year as required by ODEW. Implement practices and procedures, rules and regulation within the school as according to the requirements of ODEW. Requisition and inventory of supplies, textbooks, equipment, and other resources for the functioning of the building with the support of the Superintendent. Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive school culture and monitor school discipline to identify areas to address.
  • District Leadership: Collaborate with the Superintendent to establish district instructional priorities. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans and continuous improvement initiatives. Represent the district in community events including but not limited to Board Meetings. Support district compliance with state and federal requirements. Monitor the district initiatives related to curriculum, assessment, MTSS, gifted education, intervention services, and academic programming. Assist with accreditation, accountability, and reporting requirements.
  • Personnel Leadership: Recruit, mentor, support, and retain high-quality staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct evaluations and provide meaningful feedback to staff. Develop leadership capacity among teachers and support personnel.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Build strong partnerships with families, community organizations, higher education institutions, and business partners. Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding school and district initiatives. Represent the district at community meetings, events, and professional organizations.
  • Fiscal and Operational Management: Assist in developing and monitoring school and departmental budgets. Ensure effective stewardship of district resources. Support grant development and implementation efforts. Oversee the allocation of instructional resources and materials. Plans and implements the required safety drills. Supervise the school's extra-curricular activities.
