Location: Brooklyn, NY 11235
Shift: Night / Days Shift
Schedule: 3 days/week
Hours: 11.5 hours/day | 34.5 hours/week
Shift Time: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM or 7:30 am to 7 pm

Pay Rate: $2,242 to $2,358 weekly (this is local to travel range)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients, including pre- and post-operative patients. The RN will assess patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, monitor vital signs, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Evaluate medical information and provide direct, individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgical patients.
• Prepare, administer, and accurately document prescribed medications.
• Perform wound dressing changes, catheter insertion, IV initiation, and related nursing procedures.
• Operate and adjust specialized medical equipment as required and accurately interpret and document measurements.
• Monitor patient vital signs and promptly report adverse reactions, changes in condition, or other clinical concerns.
• Participate in discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, medications, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate and current patient files, medical charts, and health records.
• Follow established nursing standards, best practices, infection-control procedures, and facility protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families to promote quality patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience Acute Care Facilities

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a large acute-care hospital setting.
• Most recent Med/Surg experience must be within the past 1 year .

Post-Acute Facilities

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a post-acute facility or acute-care hospital setting.
• Most recent Med/Surg experience must be within the past 1 year .

Clinical Skills

• Physical assessment
• Medication administration

Education Required

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited educational institution.

Licensure & Certifications Required

• Active New York State RN License
• Primary Source Verification
• AHA BLS and ACLS – required
