Surgery - Thoracic Physician Assistant

Are you a Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant searching for your next locum tenens opportunity? This position with one of VISTA's healthcare partners in Washington might be the perfect fit for you!

• Schedule: 7am-5pm clinical; Call: 5pm-7am weekdays; Weekend call: Friday 5pm-Monday 7am; Call rotation: every third day during the week and every fourth weekend. Coverage blocks beginning January 11, 2027 through June 30, 2027 (must be able to cover all shifts).
• Job Setting: Inpatient - Operating Room (OR) and ICU; some stepdown patient coverage. 4 Surgeon / 4 PA practice at Deaconess Medical Center, a Level 3 Trauma Facility.
• Types of Cases:
  • Robotic Lobectomy and Thymectomy using the DaVinci Xi Robot
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Aortic Valve Replacement / TAVR Procedures
  • Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement
  • Thoracotomy and VATS Procedures
  • Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Implantation
  • Aortic Dissection Repair
  • ECMO
  • First Assist in all procedures
  • Endoscopic Vein and Radial Harvesting using Maquet System (Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
  • Morning rounds, daily progress notes, medication management, consults, H&P, discharge planning, chest tube management and removal, post-operative orders, sternotomy closure (surgeon preference)
  • Daily Clinic (Monday-Thursday) post-op patients
  • Multidisciplinary rounds when on call
• Credentialing: Estimated 60-90 days; clean history may qualify for expedited privileges. Temporary privileges available. EMR: Epic.

• Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board Certified or Board Eligible required
• Certifications: BLS required
• Licensure: Licensed in Washington State (WA) or IMLC
