Full Stack Software Engineer (Components)

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER (COMPONENTS)The Components Engineering Team develops the world’s best flight hardware and fabricates it at an in-house machine shop for Starship. The team is making a next generation machine shop with advanced software and automation, an alien dreadnought machine that builds the machine. As a software engineer, you will design novel software solutions such as web applications for efficient factory operation, algorithms and AI to automatically create CNC programs, control and deployment of CNC machines, and much more. These improvements will enable rapid Starship production rates of 100+ per year as well as a quick development cycle, which are critical for SpaceX’s Moon and Mars missions. Previous manufacturing experience is not necessary, just the desire to make high-quality software to rapidly build Starships. RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop highly reliable software solutions that are used across many SpaceX teamsOwn all aspects of software development, including design, testing, and deploymentRapidly create new applications that improve the production cycle time in the machine shop and the time to go from CAD to part in handDeep dive into your users’ problems to find and create efficient solutionsBring your voice to the table in team collaborations on architecture, design, and code reviewsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics or other engineering discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degreeExperience in full stack developmentPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Developed, debugged, and deployed software that has been used in real world applications and projectsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalThorough knowledge of computer architecture and networksKnowledge of AI tools and how to best solve problems using AI solutionsCreative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentalsProgramming experience in Python, JavaScript, C#, .NET, Java, or similar object-oriented languageFront-end experience in Angular, React, or similar JavaScript frameworkExperience with web-technologies such as nginx, haproxy, redisExperience with build systems like Make and package management tools such as pip, npm, nugetExperience with UNIX-like operating systems and tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet for managing themProduction experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container and deployment toolsDatabase experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database technologiesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:Level 1: $125,000.00 - $160,000.00Level 2: $145,000.00 - $195,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
