Junior Underwriter

The Junior Underwriter will support the underwriting team in evaluating insurance risks, reviewing submissions, analyzing policy information, and assisting with underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines and applicable insurance regulations.This role will work closely with Underwriters, agents, producers, and internal teams to ensure submissions are properly reviewed, risks are accurately assessed, and policies are processed efficiently. The Junior Underwriter will develop a strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, insurance products, risk factors, and company procedures while gaining hands-on experience in the property and casualty insurance environment.The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive insurance professional who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with internal and external partners, and exercise sound judgment when reviewing risk and policy information.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and evaluate new business submissions, applications, and supporting documentation.Assist Underwriters with risk assessment and underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines.Analyze applicant, property, loss, claims, and other relevant risk information.Verify the accuracy and completeness of underwriting documentation and submission information.Identify missing information, inconsistencies, or potential risk concerns and follow up as needed.Assist with quoting, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and other underwriting-related activities.Review policies and supporting documents to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.Communicate with agents, producers, and internal departments regarding underwriting requirements and submission status.Maintain accurate underwriting records, files, and documentation.Assist with renewal reviews and identify changes in risk exposure or policy information.Support the Underwriting team in monitoring accounts and identifying potential underwriting concerns.Research and apply company underwriting guidelines, procedures, and applicable insurance requirements.Assist with maintaining underwriting reports, tracking logs, and portfolio information.Collaborate with Claims, Operations, Finance, and other internal teams as needed.Provide timely and professional service to agents, producers, and internal stakeholders1+ year of experience in insurance, underwriting, claims, policy administration, or a related P&C insurance role preferred.Strong interest in developing a career in property and casualty insurance underwriting.Working knowledge of insurance principles, terminology, and policy concepts.Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate risk information.High attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing applications and policy documentation.Ability to interpret and follow underwriting guidelines and procedures.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple submissions and priorities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to build effective working relationships with agents, producers, underwriters, and internal teams.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Ability to identify discrepancies, ask appropriate questions, and escalate issues when necessary.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.Experience working with insurance systems or underwriting platforms preferred.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.High level of accountability, professionalism, and confidentiality.Insurance designation or relevant coursework such as CPCU, AU, AINS, or similar is a plus.Bilingual English and Spanish required and non-negotiable. #J-18808-Ljbffr Loyalty MGA LLC
