Bronson Battle Creek Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg Units PRN/Per-Diem

Location: BBC Bronson Battle Creek Title: Bronson Battle Creek Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg Units PRN/Per-Diem Description This is a general posting for inpatient RN positions at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. Float Pool – experienced staff with a variety of skills who “float” to the units below as needed. General Medical Unit – 37 bed cardiac/pulmonary unit, 10 bed clinical decision unit (CDU) with focus on chest pain. Neurovascular/Ortho Unit – 30 bed unit, includes Orthopedic Renewal Center for total joint replacement. Oncology/Medical/Surgical – 37 bed unit, variety of patient types, including many types of surgeries. Observation Unit – 14 bed short stay. Responsibilities Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines ... the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by the following: utilizing the nursing process ... The registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients’ health or the situation. Includes assessing physical and developmental needs, analyzing assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs, documenting nursing history, reviewing vital signs, etc. The registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine patient problems or issues, uses assessment data to identify patient problems, confirms problems with patient and family when appropriate, documents expected outcomes and plan of care. The registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for an individualized plan, incorporates patient/family input, coordinates discharge planning. The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes, incorporates clinical pathways, develops individualized interventions with patient input, considers data from other members, etc. The registered nurse implements the identified plan, administers medication, utilizes evidence-based interventions, maintains awareness of comfort and safety, initiates patient education, manages care plan for patients by organizing delegation of patient care interventions, evaluates effectiveness of care. The registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of the expected outcomes, evaluates effectiveness of planned interventions, documents response, etc. Standards of Practice The registered nurse systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, participates in quality improvement activities, uses results to initiate changes in nursing practice. The registered nurse attains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice, participates in ongoing educational activities, maintains professional records. The registered nurse evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines, demonstrates age appropriate care in culturally and ethnically sensitive manner, participates in self‑evaluation, peer review. The registered nurse interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers and colleagues, shares knowledge and skills, maintains compassionate relationships, contributes to a supportive work environment. The registered nurse collaborates with patient, family, and others, partners with multiple health disciplines to effect change and generate positive outcomes. The registered nurse integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice, delivers care preserving patient autonomy, dignity, confidentiality, demonstrates commitment to relationship‑centered care, serves as patient advocate. The registered nurse integrates research findings into practice, uses research to improve health, participates in research activities. The registered nurse considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in planning and delivery of nursing services. The registered nurse provides leadership in the professional practice setting and profession, participates in committees, attends unit staff meetings, works to create a professional environment. Standards of Professional Performance Participates in quality improvement activities, uses results to initiate changes. Maintains competency through ongoing education, records evidence of competency. Evaluates own practice, identifies areas for development, participates in peer review. Shares knowledge, maintains compassionate relationships, contributes to healthy environment. Collaborates with patient and family, partners with disciplines for positive outcomes. Integrates ethical provisions, preserves autonomy, demonstrates commitment. Integrates research findings, uses evidence‑based practice. Considers safety, cost, outcomes in planning and delivery. Scrub RN Responsibilities Interprets procedure cards, assesses case cart for supplies. Applies knowledge of operative procedure and physician preferences. Observes changes indicating a problem has emerged. Evaluates and updates case information. Remains aware of proper use of equipment. Anticipates potential needs and takes appropriate actions. Acts as specialist and resource for circulators. Responsible for after‑hour call on rotational basis. Ability to perform scrub duties in multiple services. Additional Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire. Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the State of Michigan. BLS certification required by completion of core orientation. Critical care or ALS required for some RNs, unit specific. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems and equipment. Must be able to constantly communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically. Work produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue; involves regular lifting up to 50 pounds. Shift Variable Time Type Part time; Scheduled Weekly Hours 10 #J-18808-Ljbffr
