Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility) is an 80-bed facility that offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults. Located on a beautiful oak-lined campus, we provide a home-like environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self-awareness, social skills, and personal growth. Our psychiatric treatment and substance abuse services are available through both inpatient and outpatient programs to fit your needs. Our hospital is located in South Austin 10 minutes from downtown.

We currently have opportunities for Registered Nurses Night Shift 7p-7a. Position summary for Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) Weekend Nights includes:

• Responds to incoming calls to the hospital to accommodate coordination for referrals/admissions.
• Provides assessment of patients' psychiatric and medical status.
• Ensures all inquiries, referrals, and admissions are documented accurately in the computer system and that notes regarding referrals and upcoming admissions are documented on proper forms.
• Ensures all referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing and clinical staff are adequately apprised of the patient's condition/history.
• Ensures referral material is copied/distributed and prepared in unit charts as required.
• Assesses, directs, and intervenes in crisis situations.
• Provides leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
• Contributes to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
• Administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by Physician.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
• Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
