Technical Writer/Editor

Role Overview

Help improve next-generation AI systems by evaluating how effectively they respond to writing prompts. This contract role centers on comparing model-generated content and applying expert editorial judgment to assess clarity, tone, helpfulness, and instruction-following. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and compare multiple AI-generated responses to writing prompts.
• Score responses and provide detailed, concise rationales for each assessment.
• Assess clarity, tone, coherence, usefulness, writing quality, and adherence to instructions.
• Identify ways to improve the quality and instructional value of language-model outputs.
• Document findings accurately, with close attention to subtle differences in writing effectiveness.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and reviewers to produce consistent, complete deliverables.

Qualifications

• Native-level English fluency and exceptional written communication skills.
• Experience in technical writing, editing, or content evaluation.
• Strong critical-analysis skills and the ability to evaluate technical and instructional content for clarity, tone, coherence, and usefulness.
• Familiarity with digital content-review, annotation, or evaluation platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in analysis and documentation.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively in virtual settings.
• Experience with AI systems or model-evaluation practices is helpful but not required.

Work Terms

• Independent contractor engagement.
• Open to candidates located in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
• Remote, asynchronous virtual collaboration.

Compensation

$90 to $140 per hour.
