Medical Health Physicist B/C Posted Job Title: Medical Health Physicist B/C Job Profile Title: Medical Health Physicist B Job Summary Provide physics support under a Broad Scope Medical License, several Medical and Non‑Medical Accelerator Licenses, and an Irradiator License to the University of Pennsylvania and affiliates, including >150 research permits, Veterinary School animal hospitals, Dental School research and clinical functions, the University Health System (HUP, PCAM, PPMC, Penn Medicine at Radnor, Cherry Hill, Doylestown, Princeton), the Division of Community Radiology, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Cyclotron Facility, and 30+ ambulatory care facilities. Support user groups in developing and conducting procedures for the safe use of radiation sources and radioactive materials to assure staff and patient safety in Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiology. Implement programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and best‑practice guidelines (Joint Commission, American Board of Radiology, Department of Health) and maintain radiation doses ALARA. Audit for compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements, identify problem areas, analyze issues, and implement corrective actions. Plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate technical staff. Write and update SOPs and policies to maintain compliance. Work on unique and complex projects. Responsibilities Provide primary technical oversight for RDRC and human-use committees ensuring adherence to institutional, federal, and regulatory requirements; supervise personnel screening protocols. Conduct thorough review of research protocols and collaborate with research teams to address scientific, technical, and safety concerns; coordinate and facilitate reviews by physician and physicist committee members. Develop and implement procedures for safe human‑use research, including novel radiopharmaceutical drug production and novel radiation‑producing devices. Provide expertise, including dose calculations from internal and external sources, for new uses. Implement compliance programs for Federal, State, and best‑practice guidelines (Joint Commission, American College of Radiology, Department of Health). Plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of technical staff. Write and update SOPs and policies to maintain compliance. Work on unique and complex projects. MHP B

Required: MA/MS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation‑related science with 3‑5 years of experience, or BA/BS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation‑related science with 5‑7 years of experience. Experience with an Academic/Medical radiation safety program required. Preferred: MA/MS in Health Physics or equivalent related science with 3‑5 years of professional experience as a Health Physicist in an Academic/Medical environment. Board certification by the American Board of Health Physics, American Board of Radiology, or equivalent highly desired.

MHP C

Required: MA/MS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation‑related science with 5‑7 years of experience, or BA/BS in Health Physics or equivalent radiation‑related science with 7‑10 years of experience. Experience with an Academic/Medical radiation safety program required. Preferred: Ph.D. in Health Physics or equivalent related science with 5‑7 years of professional experience as a Health Physicist in an Academic/Medical environment. Board certification by the American Board of Health Physics, American Board of Radiology, or equivalent highly desired.
