Job OVERVIEW
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of Gana-A'Yoo Limited and is responsible for leading the organization's strategic direction, financial performance, operational effectiveness, and long‑term sustainability. Reporting directly to the Boad of Directors, the CEO works closely with the Board to advance the Corporation's mission, drive growth, and create lasting value for Alaska Native shareholders.
The CEO is responsible for balancing growth and profitability with the Corporation's mission to create lasting value for its Alaska Native shareholders and communities. This executive will build and lead a high‑performing leadership team, foster a culture of accountability and integrity, and ensure the Corporation and its subsidiaries operate in a manner consistent with its values, strategic priorities, and fiduciary responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced executive with a proven track record of leading complex organizations, driving sustainable growth, managing diverse stakeholder relationships, and navigating the unique opportunities and responsibilities associated with an Alaska Native Corporation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Board and Shareholder Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and corporate management.
- Keep the Board informed of the Corporation's performance, opportunities, risks and strategic initiatives requiring attention or action.
- Provide timely, transparent and solution‑oriented communication regarding risks, opportunities and organizational performance.
- Collaborate with the Board to develop and execute the Corporation's strategic goals and objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with shareholders and promote initiatives that support long‑term shareholder value.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the Corporation's long‑term strategic vision to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
- Identify and pursue opportunities that strengthen the Corporation's portfolio and competitive position.
- Lead organizational planning and change initiatives that align business operations with Board directives and shareholder interests.
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Model ethical leadership and demonstrate a commitment to Gana-A'Yoo Limited's mission, vision and Alaska Native heritage.
Operational and Financial Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for all corporate operations and subsidiary activities.
- Directly supervise senior leadership, including the CFO, COO and other key executives.
- Establish organizational priorities and ensure resources are effectively allocated to achieve strategic objectives.
- Monitor operational and financial performance through measurable goals, reporting and accountability.
- Develop budgets for Board review and approval.
- Ensure prudent management of corporate assets and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Decision Making and Governance
- Analyze and apply financial, operational and market information to guide sound business decisions.
- Develop recommendations for the Board regarding corporate strategy, policy, investments and growth opportunities.
- Ensure effective risk management practices are in place to protect Gana‑A'Yoo Limited's assets and reputation.
External Relations
- Serve as the Corporation's chief representative and spokesperson.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, government agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders.
- Promote a positive public image and increase awareness of the Corporation's accomplishments, mission and impact.
- Advocate for opportunities that advance the interests of the Corporation and its shareholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Management or a related field.
- Ten (10) years or more of progressive executive leadership experience, preferably in an Alaska Native Corporation.
- Proven experience leading strategic planning, financial management and organizational growth.
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Knowledge of ANSCA, corporate governance, shareholder relations and subsidiary management.
- Experience with federal government contracting, including SBA 8(a), FAR, DFARS and related compliance requirements
- Relevant equivalent of experience and education may be substituted
- Excellent leadership, communication, relationship‑building and decision‑making skills.
- Candidate must reside in Alaska
Preferred
- Shareholder preference will apply
- Master's degree in business administration or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience overseeing multiple subsidiary companies or diverse business lines.
- Experience working directly with a Board of Directors, including strategic planning, governance, policy development, corporate governance and executive reporting.
- Demonstrated experience managing organizational budgets, financial performance, capital allocation and long‑term strategic planning.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive sustainable growth, organizational performance and long‑term stakeholder value.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, business transformation or growth initiatives and employee development initiatives.
- Demonstrated success building and leading high‑performing executive teams.
- Strong business orientation focused on strategic growth with an understanding of operations, mergers and acquisitions.
- Strong analytical, logical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in an office setting and interfaces with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Travel is required. Travel may include long flights, travel by small aircraft carrier, snowmachine/ATV or watercraft and extended stays in remote areas of Alaska.
