Director, Special Events & Sponsorships Department: Development- Fundraising Location: Washington, DC Compensation: $104,707.00 to $110,718.90 (commensurate with experience). Competitive benefits are included. Position Description The Director, Special Events & Sponsorships leads fundraising through SOME’s Break the Cycle Gala and Trot for Hunger, while cultivating corporate sponsorships and advisory board relationships. Key Responsibilities Serve as strategic lead for the two signature events, managing revenue goals, donor and sponsor experience, and mission impact. Direct outsourced event management and production partners, ensuring planning, budgets, and quality standards. Maintain dual focus on event execution and donor/sponsor engagement. Oversee event website development with Marketing and Communications team. Manage registration platform and data integrity. Conduct post‑event analysis and lessons learned. Lead sponsorship strategy for events, building year‑round cultivation and stewardship. Develop and present sponsorship proposals, agreements, and impact reports. Track sponsorship commitments, payments, and benefits fulfillment. Coordinate sponsor recognition across materials and platforms. Co‑lead Corporate Advisory Board strategy with EVP and executive office. Develop annual CAB engagement calendar and serve as staff coordinator. Collaborate with executive leadership to align CAB strategy with organizational priorities. Schedule & Work Environment Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm. Hybrid; first 90 days on‑site, then minimum three days per week in office. Flexibility for evenings and weekends. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Minimum 5 years nonprofit fundraising, corporate relationship management, or sponsorship development experience. Experience using events as a fundraising and cultivation strategy. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Experience managing corporate sponsorship portfolios. Familiarity with outsourced event management models and nonprofit fundraising environments. Licenses & Certifications Driver’s license required if company vehicle use is necessary. Reports To EVP, Chief Development Officer Physical Demands Lifting up to 20 pounds; prolonged computer screen use; sitting for extended periods.
