Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity. Location: Old Fort, NC , Partially remote eligible. The Corps programs within the organization engage participants in diverse conservation and community projects that serve public and private lands. Program Summary : Conservation Corps North Carolina empowers young adults through meaningful outdoor work that benefits North Carolina’s land and water and foster healthy communities. A program of Conservation Legacy, CCNC partners with public land managers and community organizations across the state to engage motivated individuals—typically ages 15–30—in challenging and impactful conservation service projects. These projects may include trail construction and maintenance, habitat restoration, hazard fuel reduction, invasive species removal, and other technical conservation work. CCNC crews and individual placements gain hands-on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to positively impact North Carolina’s natural resources and communities. Position Summary: The Program Coordinator’s (“Coordinator” or “they“) primary responsibilities are to: Participate in the planning and execution of crew leader and member trainings; Coordinate communication between the field and the office; Support and mentor all field staff; Ensure crews are both supported and prepared to maintain safety, program integrity, and quality projects in the field; manage project logistics, property access, mapping, and materials pick up or delivery. Both office and field operations are required by this position and a flexible schedule is a must. The position is generally 70% office-based and 30% field based, though field expectations may be higher in certain weeks depending on project or recovery priorities. They must be available for emergency trips to the field. The Program Coordinator reports to CCNC’s Program Manager. The continuation of this initiative and this position is funding-dependent. Outcomes & Functions of Position: Crew Leader and MemberPlacements Assist in developingpositionsfor theCrew Programwith many different project partners. Develop, oversee, and evaluatean effective strategy to recruit and advertise crew personnel positions, collaborating with other staff as necessary. Monitor and review incoming applications for volume and quality. Interview, select, and onboardCrew Members, collaborating externally and internallyas necessary. Fill all open positions in a reasonable amount of time. Collect, compile, and process all required intake and enrollment materials forcrew leaders and m embers. Co-manage with the Individual Placements (IP) program any IPs that are funded by related agreements and whose roles directly contribute to the partner’s larger efforts of the crew program. Training, Field Support, and Development Assist in creating and delivering internal orientations and trainings, intentionally aligning with Conservation Legacy’s strategic initiatives. Substantially visit, assist, and support crews in the field proactively and as needed. Facilitate and encourage opportunities for Crew Lead and Member development. Attend off-season CCNC/Conservation Legacy retreats and operations development events. Continue with technical program-specific education, training, and industry exposure. Build, share and update project maps. Ensure saw and herbicide program standards are met. Partner Support and Position Development Work with partner staff contactsto support related programs in CCNC’s program footprint. Facilitate crews’ attendance to technical trainings supported by partner organizations. Facilitate consistent field operations and share best practices/learning lessons. Program Support and Administration Supervise and mentor a cohortofcrews. Assist with mentorship of related individual placements. Ensure that timesheets are completed promptly and correctly. Enforce and monitor appropriate risk management and all CCNC Policies and Procedures across the program;review, digest, and follow up on incident reports, vehicle accident reports, and worker’s compensation claims. Assist with vehicle leasing, remote fleet management, and remote gear cachemanagement. Assist with coordination of program logistics. Develop and implementeffective and efficient administrative systemsfor recruitment, enrollment, management, evaluation, exits, reporting, andmarketing, working closely with other CCNC staff. Maintain regular remote communications with crews. Facilitate the creation of social media material. Collect and compile information for reports and internal/external news and reports, including but not limited to AmeriCorps and project performance reporting. Collaborate withcrews and staff tomaintain andimprove program operations and quality. Work to maintain high retention and satisfy partners through regular communication with crews. Coordinate, review, and follow up on completion and quality of intra-crew evaluations. GeneralAdministration Participate in staff meetingsand support other staff as appropriate. Abide by Conservation Legacy’s credit cardholder and spending policies, including providingproper associated documentation. Regional and Organizational Support Participate inCCNC’sinternal, rotating emergency on-call system. Maintainproductive relationships and interface significantly with other staff regarding administrative detailsandprogram items. Assist withrelevant activities within CCNC/Conservation Legacy. Provide technical knowledge to and build capacity of monitoring programs and projects in otherareasof Conservation Legacy as opportunities arise. Qualifications: Previous Corps Experience. 2 years of administrative and trail building experience Competency in Trail building and Maintenance. B Faller Certification, or willingness to obtain before the start of field season. Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment. Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms.Ability to keep others and oneself in remote locations, accountable to expectations. Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies. Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements. Other Competencies Desired for this Position’s Success : Successful completion of 6 months or multiple seasons with leadership responsibilities in a conservation setting. Demonstrated experience withany of the following: Recruitment, hiring, training, and/or management. Managing administrative systems or databases.
