Position Interior Designer | Higher Education Location Cincinnati, OH Work Mode Monday – Friday; 8:00 – 5:00; In-Office Monday – Thursday; Hybrid (remote or in-office) Friday Employment Type Full-time FLSA Exempt Role Summary The Designer II supports project teams through design exploration (furniture, finishes, and equipment), space planning, programming, and Revit production, bringing a strong foundation in conceptual design and technical execution. This role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented designer who can work more independently, take on increased ownership of day-to-day deliverables, and a continued desire to grow in both design thinking and technical delivery. Responsibilities Independently completes assigned deliverables, material palettes, lighting and furniture design, and details that are accurate, coordinated, and issued on time. Meets BHDP quality expectations through project coordination, accurate incorporation of manager feedback, and QA/QC follow-through—minimizing repeat comments and rework within assigned scope. Demonstrates growing proficiency coordinating assigned scope with project systems and consultant inputs, identifying conflicts early and resolving routine issues with increasing independence. Escalates higher-risk items appropriately and applies lessons learned to reduce repeat coordination issues. Uses and shares reusable content (templates, checklists, standards tips, lessons learned) from the agreed BHDP standards repository to improve team consistency. Learns from and coaches others and supports developing teammates through short feedback loops to drive design and standards adoption, reduce recurring issues, and improve throughput. Communicates clear status, roadblocks, and next steps to the project team and/or manager with timely follow-through, documenting decisions and action items as directed. Works with others and cooperates effectively to resolve issues within assigned scope, implement decisions consistently in deliverables, and give and receive feedback professionally. Manages assigned scope to meet milestones and hours-to-plan, escalating scope/time risks early with clear recovery options and documented next steps. Submits accurate, on-time weekly timesheets for client billing and understands how timekeeping and utilization impact project accounting, fee performance, and profitability. Qualifications Bachelor of Interior Design degree (CIDA accredited program preferred) 3+ years in the interior design and/or architecture industry Revit proficiency – independently deliver designed drawing packages and projects in 2D and 3D Proficiency with Enscape, Lumion, or Sketch-Up preferred Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Desire and willingness to learn Demonstrated initiative; sees challenges as opportunities Strong attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration within a team Consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism in client-facing and internal interactions, including responsiveness, confidentiality, and strong service orientation.
