Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) who is willing to float to various units and hospitals. The position offers the flexibility to work either 36 or 48 hours per week, with a commitment to holidays as required and every other weekend.

About the Role

The Emergency Department (ED) provides comprehensive emergency medical services to patients of all ages, staffed 24/7 by a highly trained multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff. Our ED operates as a 54-bed state-designated Level III Trauma Center and a Level II Stroke Center, treating over 60,000 patients annually.

The Nurse to Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for other patients, ensuring optimal care for all individuals we serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Float to other units and hospitals as needed to meet patient care demands.
• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient assessment and treatment.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to make timely decisions in emergency situations.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree in Nursing is required.

Certifications

• AHA ACLS
• AHA BLS
• AHA PALS
• NIH or Red Cross Certification
• TNCC
• On-site training certification

Licenses

• Registered Nurse license in the State of Alabama or a Compact license (Temporary licenses not accepted).
• Must be in good standing with NURSYS.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; however, 18 months of experience will be considered if working under the highest level of professional license.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in the field of specialty.
