This full-time contract position focuses on offering one-on-one assistance to a student recently referred by the district to the School of the Blind. The role is designed for a compassionate individual prepared to engage with a student presenting a complex profile—while visual impairment (VI) support can be taught, your core responsibility will be assisting with autism support needs.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience as a paraprofessional in school settings
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Visual Impairment (VI) strategies
• Background in supporting students with autism or similar complex needs
• Ability to foster a supportive, encouraging, and safe classroom environment
• Reliable, professional, and patient approach

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide daily one-on-one in-classroom and activity-based support to the assigned student
• Implement teacher and therapist instructions, adapting support to meet both behavioral and academic goals
• Assist with communication, social interaction, and transitions throughout the school day
• Collaborate with school staff, therapists, and parents to ensure continuity of care
• Track student progress and share relevant observations with the educational team
• Advocate for and ensure the student’s comfort, safety, and participation throughout their 60-day trial period
