Taxpayer Customer Service Assistant

Description Looking for a flexible role in public service where your customer service skills and attention to detail make a difference? Upper Darby Township is currently seeking a Taxpayer Customer Service Assistant to support residents during peak tax collection periods. This part‑time position plays an important role in ensuring a smooth and efficient customer experience by providing front‑line assistance to members of the taxpaying community. The Customer Service Assistant serves as a key point of contact at the One Center, helping residents prepare for tax payments, understand procedures, and navigate available services. Key Responsibilities Assist customers at the payment desk. Review documentation for completeness prior to Tax Office processing. Provide clear guidance on acceptable payment methods, locations, and timelines. Support self‑service payment and sign‑in kiosk operations. Manage customer flow between the One Center and the Tax Office. Help maintain an organized and efficient service environment. Reproduce tax bills and confirm amounts due using available systems. Provide general information on related Township services to support residents with tax, sewer, and trash payment inquiries. Schedule Intermittent, part‑time schedule based on peak tax collection periods. Pay Range $23/hour Benefits This position is not eligible for benefits. Position Requirements Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to interact respectfully and effectively with a diverse public. Basic computer proficiency, including navigating systems, accessing information, and printing documents. General understanding of common payment methods, including checks and credit cards. Comfortable assisting customers with self‑service kiosks and basic troubleshooting. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to maintain professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast‑paced environment. Previous experience in customer service, payment processing, or a public‑facing office setting is preferred.
