Job Description

The Passenger Bus Operator is responsible for operating a passenger bus with an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 30,000 pounds and with passenger capacity ranging from 44 to 72 students. The operator provides safe and efficient transportation for students to and from school. They assist in the loading and unloading of children with special needs and their equipment, as well as assisting these students in getting to and from their classrooms. The general cleaning of the bus is also the responsibility of the operator, which includes cleaning inside of the bus daily and washing exterior of the bus once a month. The operator reports all disciplinary action to the school principal and the DOA. They conduct maintenance and safety checks on the school bus prior to beginning all routes, record school bus route and schedule on the trip ticket, and report problems to the designated government representative (DOR).
