Financial Controller – Full-time 

Mission 

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Vasile Elevator, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, effective cash-flow management, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. This role partners closely with Executive Leadership and department leaders to provide timely, accurate, and actionable financial information that supports profitable growth and sound business decisions. The Financial Controller will lead and develop accounting processes, improve financial visibility, identify opportunities for increased efficiency and profitability, and ensure the financial integrity of the organization as Vasile Elevator continues to grow. 

Responsibilities/Functions

• Financial Management & Reporting – oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions. Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. 

• Accounting Oversight – oversee, general ledger, bank reconciliations, journal entries, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and other accounting functions. Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with established company policies and applicable accounting standards. 

• Month-End & Year-End Close – manage and improve the month-end and year-end closing processes. Establish and maintain closing schedules, review account reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure financial results are finalized accurately and on schedule. 

• Financial Analysis – analyze financial results, profitability, expenses, margins, and variances against budget and prior periods. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate findings and recommendations to Executive Leadership. 

• Cash Flow Management – monitor cash flow and working capital. Provide leadership with cash-flow forecasts and recommendations to support the company’s financial stability and operational needs. 

• Budgeting & Forecasting – lead the annual budgeting process and maintain ongoing financial forecasts. Work with department leaders to establish realistic budgets, monitor performance, identify variances, and develop corrective action plans when necessary. 

• Job & Project Financial Oversight – partner with Project Management, Sales, Purchasing, Operations, and Executive Leadership to monitor project financial performance, including job costs, revenue recognition, change orders, purchase commitments, labor costs, material costs, gross margins, and project profitability. 

• Internal Controls – develop, implement, and maintain effective financial controls and procedures designed to safeguard company assets, prevent errors and fraud, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. 

• Payroll & Benefits Accounting – provide financial oversight of payroll processing and payroll-related accounting, including reconciliations, accruals, taxes, benefits, and related liabilities. Partner with HR and payroll providers to ensure accurate financial records. 

• Banking & Financial Relationships – manage banking relationships and coordinate banking activities, including reconciliations, deposits, transfers, credit facilities, and other financial requirements as directed by Executive Leadership. 

• Tax & Compliance – coordinate with external CPAs, tax professionals, auditors, insurance providers, and other financial advisors as needed. Assist with tax filings, financial audits, compliance requirements, and year-end reporting. 

• Audit Management – serve as the primary internal contact for external accountants and auditors. Prepare requested schedules, documentation, reconciliations, and supporting information and ensure audit requests are completed accurately and timely. 

• Financial Systems & Process Improvement – maintain and continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting procedures. Identify opportunities to automate processes, eliminate unnecessary work, improve accuracy, and increase financial visibility. 

• ERP/Accounting Systems – maintain strong working knowledge of the company’s accounting and ERP systems and ensure financial information flows accurately between accounting and operational systems. Assist with system improvements, integrations, and implementation of new financial tools as needed. 

• Leadership & Team Development – lead, coach, and develop accounting personnel. Establish clear expectations, monitor performance, provide training, and promote accountability, accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement. 

• Executive Leadership Support – provide Executive Leadership with timely financial information, analysis, recommendations, and financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making. 

• EOS Support – participate in the company’s Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) processes, including establishing and tracking financial Rocks, identifying financial Issues, providing scorecard information, and participating in Level 10 and leadership meetings as appropriate. 

• Confidentiality – maintain strict confidentiality of company financial information, employee compensation information, banking information, customer information, vendor information, and other sensitive business records. 

• Errands/Outside Activities – perform occasional banking, financial, vendor, or other business-related errands as required. Company vehicle and/or mileage reimbursement provided when applicable. 

• All other duties as assigned 

Education, Skills & Experience 

• College degree required – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and significant accounting/financial management experience may be considered. 

Experience 

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience – required 

• Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior-level accounting experience – strongly preferred 

• Experience managing month-end and year-end financial close processes – required 

• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements – required 

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial analysis – required 

• Experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions – required 

• Experience with job costing, project accounting, or construction/manufacturing accounting – strongly preferred 

• Experience working with an ERP/accounting system – required 

• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting/ERP software – preferred 

• Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems – preferred 

• Experience working with external CPAs, auditors, banks, insurance providers, and financial advisors – preferred 

• Experience supervising and developing accounting personnel – preferred 

• Experience in the elevator, construction, manufacturing, architectural products, millwork, or other project-based industries – strongly preferred

• Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls 

• Must be comfortable working cross-functionally with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Field Operations, HR, and Executive Leadership

• Must have a desire to learn and understand the elevator industry if not already familiar with it

Additional Information 

Hours 

• 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday (excluding federal holidays) 

• Fridays may be eligible for a rotating remote schedule based on business needs and performance 

• Position is primarily based at the Vasile Elevator facility in Pompano Beach, Florida 

Compensation/Benefits

• $90,000 – $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications 

• Health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; short-term disability; and a 401(k) plan. These benefits are available on the first of the month following 60 days of continuous employment 

• 3 weeks paid vacation per year, accrued bi-weekly 

• 5 paid holidays per year
