Overview:

Sentara is currently hiring a Safety Partner to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk.

Hours/Shift:

Part-time Dayshift from 6am to 6pm

Department/Position Overview:

This position will work in various units at Sentara Leigh Hospital, including Med Surg, ICU and ED, etc. You are assigned to a unit each shift. Join us in helping to keep our patients safe!


As a Safety Partner with Sentara, you will assist with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Requirements:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health science program strongly preferred.
• Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation.
• Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• De-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days of hire, except for those in Behavioral Health within 15 days of hire.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Sentara Leigh Hospital , located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services. Along with being a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, we also specialize in orthopedic and spine care, heart, vascular, maternity care, and general surgery.
