Title of Position Title of Position BRICS Undergraduate Student Research Assistant Reporting to the Associate Director for Academic Programs and Strategic Initiatives in the Fordham University Center for Ethics Education, the undergraduate research assistant will support a qualitative, participatory action research study together with NAICA (the Neighborhood Association for Inter-cultural Affairs). In this phase of the project, NAICA is seeking to establish a baseline understanding of young people’s perceptions of their community assets in the Bronx, largely through interviews and focus groups. Additionally, the undergraduate research assistant will work together with young adult co-researchers as they train in digital and asset mapping. Essential Functions Supports conducting focus groups and interviews, including note-taking, transcription, and analysis. Supports NAICA in preparing for and facilitating trainings with youth co-researchers. Takes part in digital and asset mapping trainings. Co-facilitates community- building activities with NAICA representatives. Helps prepare for trainings, including gathering materials and documenting outcomes from the trainings. Additional Functions Required Qualifications: Education and Experience Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Fordham University. Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated experience in communicating with multiple parties with attention-to-detail. Eager to learn more about qualitative methods, including digital and asset mapping. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in qualitative methods or participatory action research.
