Director, Program Management
Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Program Management to lead an entire platform category within a rapidly growing construction and manufacturing organization. The platform may include Data Centers, Healthcare, Retail, or an emerging building type, with responsibility for multiple programs and the Associate Directors and Managers who lead them.
This is a senior leadership position with full P&L ownership across the platform, including revenue, margin, cash performance, capital planning, capacity planning, organizational development, client strategy, and operational execution.

The Director will work closely with executive leadership to determine how the platform grows, which programs are launched, how manufacturing and organizational capacity are allocated, and how long-term client relationships are developed.
The successful candidate will combine construction/program management expertise, financial and commercial leadership, operational strategy, executive-level client management, and organizational leadership. Experience within modular, industrialized, design-build, or advanced manufacturing environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Program Leadership

• Own full P&L responsibility across all programs within the assigned platform, including revenue, margin, cash performance, forecasting, and corrective action planning.
• Present platform performance, forecasts, risks, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and Board-level stakeholders.
• Lead capital and capacity planning, including manufacturing capacity, staffing, facility requirements, tooling investment, and other resources required to support committed and forecasted volume.
• Lead the operational launch of new programs, markets, and building types, including team formation, process development, pricing and schedule baselines, and first-of-a-kind execution.
• Establish and enforce performance standards across schedule, financial reporting, procurement, quality, safety, and stakeholder communication.
• Provide executive-level governance and resolution for major program issues, including contract disputes, claims, cross-functional conflicts, capacity constraints, and significant client escalations.
• Evaluate platform-level operational risks, including portfolio concentration, capacity overcommitment, supply-chain exposure, and contractual risk.
• Drive continuous improvement across program management processes, systems, tools, data infrastructure, and KPI frameworks.

Financial, Commercial & Client Strategy

• Own long-term client strategy across the platform, including multi-year relationship development, contract positioning, master agreements, and expansion into additional programs and projects.
• Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key client stakeholders.
• Lead commercial strategy involving significant change orders, claims, disputes, contract negotiations, and settlement positions.
• Evaluate financial and operational performance across the portfolio and implement corrective actions when required.
• Establish expectations for portfolio-level cost modeling, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
• Balance customer commitments with organizational capacity, financial objectives, and operational risk.

Organizational Leadership

• Design and evolve the organizational structure required to support platform growth.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Associate Directors, Managers, Senior Project Managers, and other program leadership personnel.
• Make and influence hiring, promotion, restructuring, succession planning, and organizational development decisions.
• Build a strong leadership bench capable of supporting continued organizational growth.
• Establish clear accountability and performance expectations throughout the Program Management organization.
• Partner cross-functionally with Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Construction, Finance, and executive leadership.

Executive Client & Field Leadership

• Represent the organization at senior client milestones, executive meetings, and industry events.
• Serve as the executive relationship owner for C-suite client leadership across the assigned platform.
• Act as the final escalation point for significant disputes, claims, and client issues that exceed program-level authority.
• Lead mediation and resolution strategies in partnership with executive leadership and legal counsel.
• Take direct leadership of programs or jobsites experiencing significant operational challenges and drive them back to stable execution.
• Champion a strong Safety and Quality culture across manufacturing and field operations.

Industry Leadership & Innovation

• Serve as a credible external voice within the modular, industrialized, design-build, and advanced construction industries.
• Represent the organization through conferences, industry organizations, publications, standards groups, and peer forums.
• Identify emerging technologies and operating models that can improve program execution and organizational performance.
• Sponsor adoption of advanced analytics, automation, AI, and modern digital tools across program workflows.
• Establish data, KPI, and reporting standards that enable executive leadership to make informed operational and financial decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated responsibility for multiple complex programs totaling more than $150M in actively managed annual contract revenue.
• Demonstrated ownership of full P&L across multiple programs, including revenue, margins, cash performance, forecasting, and corrective action planning.
• Experience presenting and defending financial and operational performance to executive leadership, C-suite, and/or Board-level audiences.
• Demonstrated experience with capital and capacity planning, including staffing, manufacturing capacity, facilities, tooling, or other major operational investments.
• Proven success standing up new programs, markets, products, or building categories, including team formation and first-of-a-kind execution.
• Demonstrated ownership of long-term client strategy, including multi-year relationship development, contract positioning, and expansion of existing accounts.
• Strong understanding of contracts, claims, disputes, change management, and negotiation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex programs through significant operational, financial, or client challenges.
• Experience building, restructuring, and developing multi-layer organizations and senior leaders.
• Strong financial acumen, including P&L management, margin analysis, forecasting, cost analysis, and capital planning.
• Advanced scheduling knowledge with experience using tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and/or Smartsheet.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for portfolio-level financial and operational analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively with executive leadership and C-suite clients.
• Ability to travel up to 35%, depending on program phase, client requirements, and operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as PMP, ASHE CHC, LEED AP, or similar.
• Experience within modular construction, industrialized construction, design-build, advanced manufacturing, or related environments.
• Established industry credibility through client leadership, conferences, publications, professional organizations, standards groups, or other industry forums.
• Experience establishing organizational standards for cost modeling, financial analysis, KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Ability to interpret CAD, Revit, or SolidWorks models sufficiently to participate in design strategy and productization discussions.
• Working understanding of Python, SQL, and data modeling concepts and their potential application within construction and program-management workflows.
• Working knowledge of AI/ML, statistical modeling, and data engineering concepts, with the ability to evaluate opportunities for organizational adoption.
• Experience championing the adoption of modern AI-assisted tools such as Claude.ai, Claude Code, Lovable, Replit, or comparable platforms across an organization.
• Experience establishing organization-wide AI adoption standards, use cases, and performance benchmarks.
• Experience developing enterprise KPI and dashboard strategies using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Smartsheet.
• Experience directing ERP reporting and data strategy using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or comparable enterprise platforms.
• Senior-level experience with estimating, cost analysis, data analytics, or operational performance management within construction, manufacturing, or related industries.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is more than a traditional construction Program Director. This individual should operate as the business leader for an entire portfolio or platform, with responsibility for its financial performance, operational capacity, client relationships, leadership team, and long-term growth.
They should have experience overseeing multiple large-scale programs simultaneously, managing significant P&L responsibility, developing senior leaders, navigating complex contracts and client relationships, and making strategic decisions involving capital, capacity, staffing, and organizational risk.
The strongest candidates will bring experience from large-scale construction, modular/industrialized construction, design-build, manufacturing, data centers, healthcare construction, or similarly complex project environments, along with the executive presence necessary to interact confidently with Board members, C-suite leadership, and major clients.
