Data Center Engineer Full Time JR-10113 JOB SUMMARY Clemson University is looking for a Data Center Engineer to fulfill the duties and responsibilities outlined below. Performs journey-level engineering work in the assigned specialty area. JOB DUTIES 40% - Design and Manage Electrical and Mechanical Cooling Equipment: Designs and manages all electrical and mechanical cooling equipment in the CCIT data centers. Responsible for recognizing cooling problems and failures, initiating contacts with vendors to obtain repair parts/warranty work. Conduct/schedule/assist with required repairs on all systems, including communication of downtime to administrators involved. 25% - Data Center Power Generation and Delivery Systems: Receive, configure, monitor and maintain power generation and delivery systems in all CCIT data centers. 15% - Electrical Engineering Support: Provide electrical engineering support to hardware engineers and hosted/co-location customers; collaborate with other personnel and organizations to establish relationships to enhance service and customer support. 10% - Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning and initiatives for data center power, cooling and monitoring of infrastructure systems. 10% - On-Call Rotation Support: Serve as a member of an on-call rotation that provides 24x7 support with rapid response requirements. JOB CODE HD65 EMPLOYEE TYPE Time-Limited (TLP) Staff Minimum Requirements A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or engineering technology and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience. RESPONSIBILITIES JOB KNOWLEDGE Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Not responsible for supervising employees. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES Fiscal Responsibilities: Fiscal responsibilities for the department's budget, including but not limited to, financial planning and managing fund allocation PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Stand for Prolonged Period: 20% Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period: 20% Walk or move about: 35% Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc.: 20% Ascend or descend (i.e. stairs, ladder): 20% Position self to accomplish task (i.e. stoop, kneel, crawl): 25% Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself: 50% Recognize or inspect visually: 30% Move, transport, raise or lower 50 lbs or more: 15% Extends hands or arms in any direction: 20% Use taste or smell to detect or determine particular flavors or odors: 10% Perceive, observe, clarity of vision: 30% WORKING CONDITIONS Exposure to heat or cold: 25% Noise: 40% Mechanical hazards: 20% Electrical hazards: 25% WORK SCHEDULE Standard Hours: 37.5 COMPENSATION INFORMATION Expected Salary Range $57,700.00 - $80,800.00 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines. ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Emergency Response - In the event of an emergency closure or modified operations, this position is required to respond in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on call.
