Job Description We’re looking for a passionate leader ready to take the next step in their retail career and grow into running their own best‑in‑class store. As Store Manager in Training, you will work alongside an experienced store leadership team to own the business within your four walls and develop your skills through a structured, hands‑on program. You'll build the skills to execute sales strategy; identify, staff and schedule top‑notch talent; expertly train and execute on all operational and visual functions; build strong partnerships with your peers and cross‑functional support partners; and represent the ML brand in your local market. This is a full‑time position structured to support both you and the business by giving you the tools you’ll need to be eligible for promotion & successfully step into a Manager role when the opportunity arises. Scope In addition to finding someone who connects deeply with our mission and values, we are looking for a Store Manager In Training who has some baseline experience and is eager to develop in the following areas: Customer + Brand Experience : We want people to walk out of our stores excited about our brand. Through applied soft skills & business acumen, you inspire the team to deliver a customer experience that is genuine and exceeds expectations while achieving sales goals. People Development : Serve as your Store Manager’s right hand in recruiting, training, and developing your team, offering consistent and timely feedback to encourage professional growth and maintain a positive working environment. Leadership : You step up & ensure the business doesn’t miss a beat in the Store Manager’s absence, ensuring your team stays happy, engaged, and challenged, and operations are prioritized accordingly. Visual Merchandising : From monthly floorsets to daily product replenishment, our product needs to look good and sell well in our stores. It just doesn’t sell itself by sitting on a shelf… which would be cool but let’s be real. It’s important for you to have a keen eye for merchandising and visual standards, and know when to delegate and hold your team accountable to those same standards. Operations : As a Fleet, we strive for operational excellence, and you are your team’s best resource. This means learning to execute key tasks such as scheduling and payroll, and knowing how to train and delegate day‑to‑day projects like fulfillment + zoning. Personal Development : Commit to actively participating in all aspects of the SMIT program. Consistently rotate through key functional areas of the store, show initiative, and achieve core milestones that set you up to successfully lead a store of your own. Qualifications An Authentic Brand Advocate. We’re hoping you’ve heard of us and already love us—at the very least, we want to know you can relate to our CA‑based laidback lifestyle. This is key—there’s no substitute for a genuine connection. The size of your previous company and store are not the important thing. If you have some experience in a supervisory, keyholder, or assistant management role, a strong drive to grow into a Store Manager, and a positive attitude, you can succeed here. Flexibility to Grow. Willingness to relocate or travel between store locations as needed to complete training, along with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
