Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Freestanding Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience; preferred 2 years in Emergency Department or Critical Care setting License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certification required Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a Freestanding Emergency Department to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Observes physiological changes in patients and intervenes when necessary. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Performs phlebotomy duties, basic laboratory procedures, wound cultures, point of care testing, and other care interventions within the scope of practice. Performs EKG tests. Performs breathing treatments. Interacts with patients and families to share care plans while in the facility and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is required. Some computer skills are necessary.
