Registered Nurse - Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU)

Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (19:00 - 07:00).

Job Description

The Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) is a specialized 10-bed unit providing care for critically ill/postoperative cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, and general surgery patients aged 18 and older. As a Registered Nurse in the OHICU, you will be responsible for overseeing complex cases that require advanced cardiac life support, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management among other critical nursing duties.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor invasive hemodynamic parameters.
• Caring for patients recovering from open heart surgery.
• Administer advanced resuscitation techniques and manage arrythmia interventions.
• Utilize equipment such as VADs, ECMO, and IABPs as required.
• Provide meticulous patient care, ensuring adherence to protocols and clinical best practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience required.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Prior experience with Epic charting system is mandatory.
• EKG exam must be passed on the first attempt; failure may result in cancellation of contract.
