As a Physical Therapist Assistant , you'll work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve their strength, mobility, balance, endurance and overall functional independence. Your day may include: Carrying out individualized physical therapy treatment plans Helping patients improve strength, balance, transfers, gait and functional mobility Providing therapeutic exercise and functional activities Assisting patients with safe use of walkers and other assistive devices Monitoring patient response to treatment and communicating changes to the supervising Physical Therapist Educating patients, families and caregivers on mobility and safety strategies Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team Documenting treatments and patient progress accurately and timely Encouraging patients through the victories—both big and small—that happen throughout rehabilitation This is hands-on therapy where you have the opportunity to see the difference you're making.
