divh2Bus Driver/Custodian - Mattawa/h2pPosition Purpose: Bus Driver Custodian is responsible for ensuring the children are transported in safe, timely and appropriate manner. The Bus Driver is responsible for the supervision of children on the bus along with the support of the Floater/Bus position. Keep building in clean and orderly condition performing routine maintenance activities, notifying supervisors of needed repairs. Keep premises neatly groomed and safe by cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks, etc./ppDistinguishing Characteristics: Inspire Development Centers provide early Childhood Education (ECE) and social services to 3,110 children in center-based and home-based setting, at more than 25 Child Development Centers (CDC) throughout the State of Washington. At these sites, Inspire employs over 1,000 staff on a $52 million annual budget. Inspire provides these services under various federal and state funded programs with differing regulations and stipulations, which must be coordinated and adhered to, including, but not limited to: Regional Head Start (RHS), Migrant Seasonal Head Start (MSHS), Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), and Early Head Start (EHS). The organization is required to meet an annual quota of non-federal share (in-kind) funds. A large majority of childrens first language is Spanish. Over the past 40 years, Inspire has strategically and incrementally increased its capacity to address the rapidly changing needs of its families and communities./ppSupervisory and Other Relationships: Bus Driver Custodian reports to the Center Manager, and works closely with Transportation Staff, Center Staff, Parents, and Children./ppExamples of Essential Duties and Accountabilities:/ppThe Bus Driver is the final authority and responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of all bus occupants while in route. Establishes and maintains bus route in coordination with Family Service Worker for review and approval of Center Manager. Runs fixed routes as written; does not makes unauthorized changes to routes or stops. Limit cell phone usage for emergency purposes and other agencies prescribed protocol./ppResponsible for ensuring general maintenance of buses and ensure a clean and hygienic environment keep the bus in working order. Responsible to maintain and complete attendance log, mileage bus log and maintenance log daily. Provides training to Bus Monitor(s) throughout the year as needed./ppResponsible for providing in-service training to staff, parents and conduct Emergency Bus Evacuation. Participate in local center meetings to provide orientation on bus safety/protocols to include safety drills and evacuation plans./ppResponsible to provide/receive written/oral information between center staff and parent participants. Immediately reports incidents, accidents, or unusual situations (i.e. child abuse reports, etc.) that could or did place a child at risk of injury and willing and able to describe such incidents in writing./ppConducts a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle driven every day and report suspected mechanical problems at once. Conduct a thorough post-trip inspection for children or other items left on board at the conclusion of each trip./ppResponsible to sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, clean, and disinfect classrooms sinks, restrooms, and common areas. Responsible for disposal of all garbage and disinfect wastebaskets or garbage cans daily. Keep outside equipment clean and in good/safe working conditions, (i.e. lawn mowers, shop vacuums, extractor, etc.). Strip, wax, and polish floors and shampoo carpets according to center schedule./ppResponsible to keep sidewalks, parking lot, and playground areas safe from hazards. Responsible that all doors and windows are securely locked before closing center. Discuss unique concerns of facility and immediately reports any unsafe equipment to Safety Committee Chairperson and/or Center Manager./ppResponsible to replace outside light bulbs, exit lights, broken gutters, washing windows, minor exterior center repairs, plumbing, and painting. Check and change furnace filters as needed. Lawn maintenance as needed during growing season. To include cutting lawn, watering, weed control, and center landscaping./ppBe familiar with Hazardous Materials Program and ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies and materials are stored and locked in a childproof cabinet or storeroom. Responsible to prepare and maintaining inventories of janitorial supplies, reporting and requesting to the Center Manager, those that need to be purchased./ppAssist the head cook and/or cook in storing and dating groceries./ppShows interest in furthering professional growth by attending staff meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars./ppMaintains confidentiality of program and client related information at all times./ppPerform all other duties as assigned./ppMinimum Qualifications:/ppIncumbents are required to demonstrate knowledge and abilities in these areas:/ppAbility to read write and communicate in English and/or Spanish to fulfill the responsibilities of this position;/ppExcellent in following Safety Policy and Procedures;/ppExcellent communication and interpersonal skills;/ppExcellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;/ppExperience in bus safety and risk management;/ppMust be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions and procedures without constant supervision;/ppUnderstanding of the interrelationships between services and systems;/ppFlexible to work different schedules, maybe split shift and/or with various bus routes depending on availability of shifts;/ppStrong customer service focus;/ppAbility to learn new tasks quickly and efficiently;/ppAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines;/ppAbility to gather and write data for reports and recordkeeping skills;/ppAbility to work with culturally diverse population; and/ppExcellence in building maintenance./ppThese skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and training and seven (7) years of regular driving experience. The combination of abilities, experience and training will provide the competence to perform the work of the position./ppPreferred Qualifications:/ppHigh School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate./ppTwo (2) years driving commercial experience or large load transportation./ppEnglish/Spanish bi-lingual fluency./ppAbility to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, program recipients, and the general public./ppHigh standards of work ethics - cleanliness and sanitation./ppPosition Requirements:/ppIncumbents are required to have the following:/ppMust be at least 25 years of age;/ppValid Washington State Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B or C with passenger (P1) (P2), and school bus (S) endorsements. See page four;/ppMedical Examiners Certificate;/ppMust provide a yearly driving abstract;/ppMust maintain acceptable driving history;/ppProof of automobile insurance;/ppAbility to travel to perform job duties and responsibilities;/ppMust pass initial and periodic background check;/ppMust pass initial and periodic employee health clearance; (present it within forty-five (45) days of employment);/ppCurrent Food Handler card; (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment);/ppCurrent First Aid / CPR cards, (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment);/ppSubject to initial and periodic TB screen;/ppHuman Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV / AIDS) training, (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment);/ppBlood Borne Pathogen training, (obtain the training within thirty (30) days of employment);/ppSubject to drug and/or alcohol testing per IDC Drug and Alcohol policy;/ppMust sign a Confidentiality Agreement; and/ppMust complete and sign a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement on an annual basis./p/div
