Job Overview and Qualifications

Position Highlights:

• Self-scheduling options available four weeks in advance, providing predictability in your work hours.

• Ongoing investment in state-of-the-art equipment, including surgical instruments and patient positioning tools, to enhance your performance and ensure patient safety in the Operating Room.
• Regular interactions with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your insights on patient care and surgical workflow improvements are valued.
• On-call duties required during specific non-business hours.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

• Conduct evaluations of patients prior to surgical procedures.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding the procedure and the peri-operative process.
• Take charge of patient preparation, which includes intravenous therapy, administering preoperative medications, and verifying surgical sites.
• Engage in surgical site verification processes, including briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and adherence to universal protocols as per hospital policy.
• Identify and respond to patient emergencies effectively.
• Deliver exceptional, patient-centered care while implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be a vital member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, collaborating with providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others.
• Utilize the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently provide safe nursing care.
• Assess and monitor patient conditions throughout your shift, documenting any changes and the care provided thoroughly.
• Educate patients and their families/caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Qualifications Required:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Full-time OR position available with the option to work 10-hour shifts.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in the Operating Room is required.
