Job Description

The Cleanroom Consumables Assembly Technician assembles, inspects, and packages high-precision diagnostic consumables used in advanced testing platforms. Working in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment, this role supports the production of medical device components and plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, consistency, and reliability through precise assembly and strict adherence to documented procedures and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble small plastic and component-based diagnostic consumables by following detailed written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Perform repetitive bench assembly tasks, including fitting, sealing, and light mechanical assembly of components.
• Inspect in-process and finished components for defects, quality, and dimensional accuracy, using visual checks and basic inspection tools as needed.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and ISO-compliant manufacturing procedures and maintain accurate, legible production documentation.
• Package finished consumables for distribution, ensuring correct labeling, counts, and packaging integrity.
• Maintain a cleanroom or controlled work area by following proper gowning procedures and cleanliness protocols at all times.
• Operate basic production equipment such as fixtures, sealers, and light automated tools in accordance with safety and operating guidelines.
• Record production data accurately, including quantities, lot information, and any nonconformances or deviations.
• Report equipment issues, quality concerns, or process deviations promptly to supervisors or engineering staff.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, workflow efficiency, and safety.
• Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while performing daily production tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain consistent throughput.

• At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production; experience in medical device or biotech environments is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with small parts or in high-volume assembly operations.
• Ability to follow detailed written instructions, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with high accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of quality awareness in every step of the assembly and inspection process.
• Comfort working in a cleanroom or other regulated, controlled environment.
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills for recording production data and completing electronic or paper records.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with consistent quality and focus.
• Capability to operate basic production equipment such as fixtures, sealers, and simple automated tools.
• Effective communication skills to report issues, clarify instructions, and work as part of a production team.

• Previous cleanroom or GMP/ISO manufacturing environment experience.
• Background in medical device, laboratory consumables, or diagnostics assembly.
• Experience with plastic component assembly, including light welding or sealing processes.
• Comfort using microscopes or magnification tools for detailed inspection of small components.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts and an interest in contributing to process optimization.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment dedicated to producing diagnostic consumables and medical device components. You will follow strict gowning procedures and cleanliness protocols to maintain contamination control, including wearing appropriate cleanroom attire and protective equipment. Work is primarily performed at a bench or workstation, involving repetitive assembly and inspection tasks using small tools, fixtures, sealers, microscopes, and light automated equipment. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while handling small parts with precision. The environment follows GMP and ISO standards, with structured workflows, documented procedures, and an emphasis on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Basic computer systems are used for recording production data and documentation, and you will collaborate closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet daily production goals.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Guilford, CT.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
