HudMed USA is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Support Specialists to join our team in support of our operations at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, NY.

In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining hospital safety standards by managing the uninterrupted flow of clean and soiled surgical supplies, case carts, and sterile rigid containers between Central Sterile Processing (CSPD), decontamination facilities, and Operating Room (OR) suites across Milstein Hospital and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean Cart Transport: Transport clean case carts staged in the connecting tunnel directly to designated Operating Rooms at Milstein Hospital and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.
• Soiled Cart Consolidation & Transport: Inspect, organize, and consolidate contents within dirty case carts returned from surgical suites, and move them up to the Decontamination Area following established infection control routes.
• Cart Washer Operations: Load and push empty case carts through automated cart washers for mechanical cleaning and thermal disinfection.
• Container & Rack Loading: Load washer racks with rigid sterilization containers and push loaded racks through cart washers for re-processing.
• Clean-Side Unloading: Retrieve processed racks, clean containers, and washed case carts from the exit (clean) side of the cart washers.
• Storage & Replenishment: Store disinfected containers on assigned shelving units and place empty clean case carts into their designated holding areas.
• Children's OR Retrieval: Conduct regular rounds to Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital ORs to collect clean case carts and return them back to CSPD.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Compliance & Infection Control: Strict adherence to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital policies, AAMI ST79 guidelines, OSHA standard precautions, CDC mandates, and proper PPE protocols.
• Quality & Escalation: Ability to inspect equipment, maintain strict clean/dirty physical separation, and immediately report broken carts, washer errors, or missing inventory to CSPD leadership.
• Workplace Efficiency: Strong organizational skills to maintain rapid cart turnover, support continuous workflow, and meet surgical scheduling needs without delay.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to navigate connecting tunnels, push heavy equipment carts, load/unload washers, and conduct active rounds across facility suites.
• Reliability & Attendance: Reliability is a cornerstone of this position and critical to our operational success. Consistent attendance and punctuality are required. Please note that failure to maintain expected levels of reliability may result in progressive disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
