Instructional Assistant - Lapeer, Michigan

Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting students across all grade levels for the 2026-2027 school year near Lapeer, MI. You'll play a vital part in helping students reach their full potential, working in a contract position with flexibility on caseload types—districts consider preferences to help ensure the best fit. Opportunities include working 1:1 with students in resource, self-contained, cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, or mild-moderate general classrooms.

In this full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week), your compassion and commitment will be essential. Schedules may vary depending on building assignment, with hours from 7:15am-3:15pm or 8:15am-4:15pm. As a paraprofessional, you may assist students with daily tasks, including health aide responsibilities for those with cognitive challenges.

To be considered, paraprofessionals in programs supported by Title I funds must meet one of the following qualifications:

At least 60 semester hours of college credit (provide official university transcripts)
An associate degree or higher
ETS Parapro Assessment score of at least 460
College Board SAT score of 480 or higher on evidence-based reading/writing and 530 or higher on math

Additional desired qualities and skills:

Experience supporting students in special education or general classrooms is a plus
Openness to work in a variety of educational settings and with diverse student needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators and families
Comfort with assisting students in daily living activities such as toileting or diapering
