OVERVIEW Veeco is scaling Spector ion beam deposition capacity approximately 10x by early 2027, with plans to potentially double that again and every one of those systems needs to arrive at a customer's facility, get integrated into their cleanroom infrastructure, pass process qualification, and reach formal acceptance on schedule. That is your job. As an Installation Project Manager, you will own the end-to-end delivery of Veeco system installations at customer sites worldwide, spanning the company's portfolio of ion beam deposition and etch, MOCVD, laser annealing, wet processing, and lithography platforms. You are the single point of accountability between Veeco and the customer from project kickoff through final sign‑off – coordinating Field Service engineers, process engineers, logistics, and supply chain to keep installations on time and on spec. RESPONSIBILITIES Own the full installation lifecycle for each assigned project – from kickoff and site readiness verification through equipment delivery, installation, process qualification, customer acceptance testing, and formal sign‑off, ensuring every milestone closes on schedule with no open action items. Build and maintain the master installation schedule , including task dependencies, critical path analysis, resource assignments, and milestone dates – then communicate schedule status and changes clearly to both customer project leads and Veeco internal stakeholders weekly. Serve as the single point of contact between the customer and all Veeco functions during installation , aligning Field Service, Engineering, Process Engineering, Technical Support, Operations, and Supply Chain so that the customer never has to chase answers across multiple teams. Verify site readiness before equipment arrives – confirming facilities infrastructure, utilities, safety compliance, and cleanroom preparation meet Veeco's installation specifications, and escalating gaps early enough to prevent delivery delays. Identify and manage risks, schedule changes, and cross‑project dependencies , building mitigation plans and driving escalations before issues affect the customer timeline – not after. Lead installation closeout , securing formal customer acceptance documentation, capturing lessons learned, and handing off to the Veeco service team with a clean transition package that sets the customer up for long‑term support. Improve how Veeco installs equipment , identifying patterns across your projects that point to cycle‑time reductions, logistics efficiencies, or quality improvements – then working with the installation team to implement changes that benefit every project after yours. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics preferred) or a related technical discipline – or an equivalent combination of education and field‑based project management experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex installation, deployment, or field‑based projects – preferably involving semiconductor capital equipment, vacuum systems, or other precision electromechanical systems. Direct experience working with customers in manufacturing, fabrication, or cleanroom environments, including managing customer expectations through schedule changes and technical issues. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Experience managing or overseeing the installation of complex electromechanical systems – vacuum chambers, robotic wafer handling, thermal systems, power distribution, and computer‑based control systems – giving you the technical fluency to anticipate installation risks rather than merely tracking them. Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing environments, cleanroom protocols, and equipment safety standards (such as SEMI S2/S8) that govern how tools are installed and qualified in a fab. Proficiency with project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent), with demonstrated experience building and managing Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and resource‑loaded schedules across multiple concurrent installations. Skilled at delivering clear, honest status updates to customers – including when the news is bad. You know how to manage scope expectations, negotiate schedule trade‑offs, and resolve escalations without damaging the customer relationship. Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams where you have influence but not authority – aligning Field Service engineers, process engineers, logistics coordinators, and supply chain planners toward a shared installation timeline. Comfortable replanning when customer site conditions, logistics delays, or equipment readiness issues require schedule pivots – you treat change as a project management discipline, not a crisis. PMP certification or equivalent project management credential is valued but not required – what matters more is a track record of installations that closed on time with satisfied customers. SALARY AND BENEFITS The expected salary range for this position is $78,579.00‑99,533.40, plus a bonus opportunity.
