If there is alignment now or in the near future, we reach out.The OpportunityWe partner with manufacturers across Traverse City seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate, repair, and modify tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances.Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.Perform precision measurements using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues to optimize production.Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tooling applications.Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.Recommended QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDCompletion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environmentProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawingsStrong understanding of GD&T principlesExperience with various machining processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDMBonus QualificationsAdditional certifications or trainingJob Titles That Should ApplyTool and Die Maker, Die Maker, Mold Maker, Precision Machinist, CNC Tool Maker, Journeyman Tool Maker, Apprentice Tool Maker, Senior Tool Maker, Tooling Fabricator, Machine BuilderWhy The Pivot Group NetworkThe Pivot Group Network was founded by manufacturing professionals who've been on both sides of the hiring process.
