Closing Assistant

Long standing, independent real estate title insurance company has a career opportunity for a smart, self-motivated, and resourceful individual to join our team. Position is located in Leesburg, Florida Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an escrow assistant. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in loan processing is preferred. Prior experience in mortgage lending or real estate is a plus. SUMMARY: Assists the Closing Officer by performing support tasks related to coordinating the closing process before, during, and after a closing in order to provide the customer with a clear title. Adheres to all federal and state regulations and follows company policies & procedures including but not limited to company published Best Practices, Associate (Employee) Handbook, Escrow Manual, BCEP Manual, etc. Follows Southern Title standards for excellence in customer service and demonstrates the company culture of an Outward Mindset. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Pre Closing: Prepare new orders for submission to Centralized. Monitor the Dash Board for tasks by due date and overdue. Track files by closing date. Make deposit to the file. Prepare & sends Escrow Agreements. Follow up to ensure timely return and proper signatories. Post the Agreement to the file. Examine completed title commitment and brings to the attention of the Closing Officer any unusual requirements, such a probate, corrective deed, bankruptcy, trust, missing satisfactions, etc. As requested by the Closing Officer, prepares Preliminary HUDs (preliminary closing statement) with title insurance charges. Post-Closing: Prepare any necessary refund letter to the customer. Fax closing conditions to lender for funding authorization. Annotate funding number in file. Prepare documents from the closed package to be recorded, in accordance with the commitment and lender’s instructions. Double check all documents to be certain they are properly signed, witnessed, and notarized, and contain an accurate legal description and confirms seller vesting names. Review/audit the title policy premium calculations and informs the Closing Officer of any errors. Confirm proper endorsements were charged per lender instructions. KNOWLEDGE: Understands escrow standards, title clearance, real estate regulations and guidelines, and document preparation. Comprehends pay off per diems, tax prorations, interest, and the like.
