Job Summary Courtyard is hiring a Staff Data Scientist who operates more like a founder within the data function than a traditional big-tech analyst — someone self-driven enough to spot where DS can move the business, dig in unprompted, and land on a recommendation, not just an observation. You'll work across marketing, product, finance, and operations, in a business with a genuinely probabilistic core, so you should think naturally in ranges and likely outcomes. You don't need to be a deep technical expert, but you shouldn't be lost around engineering and data infrastructure either — able to pair with AI to push through the technical parts, not just do the research and hand off the rest. What You'll Do Proactively find where DS can create leverage across marketing, product, finance, and operations Lead ambiguous, high-stakes investigations end-to-end — launches, marketing, pricing, product, ops bottlenecks — to a clear recommendation Reason rigorously under uncertainty — comfortable with ranges and simulated outcomes, not just point estimates Dig into root cause yourself, across systems, without much hand-holding Own core data models and metric definitions, pairing with AI on the deep technical lifting rather than needing it handed off Push self-serve, AI-assisted analytics so fewer things require a dedicated data scientist Set the bar for rigor and judgment across the team What We're Looking For Self-driven — finds the valuable problem before it's handed to you, doesn't stop at "here's what the data shows" Comfortable with real ambiguity and messy system — digs until you understand what's happening Broad enough technically to navigate engineering/data infra and pair with AI on the hard parts, not just research Strong quantitative intuition, including reasoning under uncertainty Experience spanning multiple functions (marketing, product, finance, operations), not one narrow domain Sharp communicator — turns analysis into recommendations leadership can act on 6+ years industry DS/analytics experience at senior/staff-level scope Bonus: background in a simulation- or probability-heavy domain (quant trading, gaming, statistics/economics) What You'll Get In Return A dynamic and engaging environment focused on fostering real growth and innovation Opportunities to create amazing products that our customers truly love and value Comprehensive health insurance packages with dependent coverage Competitive salary with ample opportunities for career advancement and development Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote work environment 401(k) plan with a 4% employer match to help you plan for the future $100 monthly dogfooding stipend to support trying out our products firsthand Access to employee wellness programs designed to support your overall well-being Courtyard
