Job Description

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for decontaminating, preparing, sterilizing, and packaging surgical instruments and patient care equipment to ensure they meet safety and sanitation standards. This role supports the healthcare team by maintaining sterile processing workflows efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and trays according to established protocols.
• Operate sterilizers and sterilization equipment confidently and safely.
• Prepare and package instrument sets, ensuring proper materials and techniques are used.
• Maintain accurate records utilizing instrument tracking systems such as ABACUS or MICROSYSTEMS.
• Assist in managing the case cart preparation system to facilitate timely instrument availability.
• Adhere to safety procedures and standards for sterilization and infection control.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD certification.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrate basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with tracking systems.
• Exhibit knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization processes, and patient care equipment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy trays or carts safely.
• Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
