Svix is an infrastructure startup focused on server-to-server communication, beginning with webhook delivery systems used by high-growth startups and enterprise customers. The company builds scalable backend systems designed for performance, reliability, and strong developer experience. This Rust Backend Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position in San Francisco. The engineer will design and ship high-quality Rust services responsible for performant message delivery at scale. The role involves building production systems, scaling backend infrastructure, and maintaining high availability in distributed environments. While not a blockchain position, it aligns closely with blockchain infrastructure roles where reliability, concurrency, and systems-level engineering matter. This role sits in high-performance backend systems where production reliability and developer experience are core priorities. Responsibilities Deploy high-quality production Rust code in a fast-paced engineering environment Contribute to scaling backend systems while maintaining stability and high availability Build new backend features focused on message delivery performance Maintain a strong focus on developer experience across internal and external tooling These expectations reflect what recruiters look for in crypto jobs and infrastructure teams when evaluating backend systems engineers with Rust expertise. Requirements Experience building production services using Rust Strong backend engineering background with a focus on performance and reliability Clear written and verbal communication skills Passion for delivering high-quality developer experiences Ability to work full-time on-site in San Francisco Nice to Have Experience operating systems at high scale and high availability Open-source or OSS contributions All roles are full-time; student or part-time arrangements are not considered.
